A pug making a traffic-weaving run for home was captured by police in Clackamas on Thursday.

Bristol, a 3-year-old pug, escaped from a pet hospital Thursday morning.

Police then received several reports of a dog running in and out of traffic lanes on Interstate 205 near Johnson Creek Boulevard.

Trooper Duane Larson responded to the reports and spotted the dog. He said he ordered Bristol to stop.

"He stopped, turned around and walked back to me," Larson said. "I picked him up like a football and put him in back of my patrol car so he could be returned to where he came from."

Larson returned the pug to the Banfield Pet Hospital at a local PetSmart store.

According to police, Bristol had been dropped off at the hospital by his owner earlier that morning. He slipped out of his collar, ran from employees and escaped through the automatic-sliding front door, according to hospital workers.

Police said Bristol crossed southbound lanes of I-205 during his escape and may have been trying to get to his home on the other side of the freeway.
