SCIO, Ore. -- A truck smashed into a covered bridge near Scio on Monday.Authorities said the truck carrying tools to fix farm equipment was driving along Goar Road near Scio when it hit the Gilkey Covered Bridge.
The truck took out some of the bridge's support beams, making the bridge structurally unsound, according to investigators. It will be closed for the next month.The Gilkey Bridge spans Thomas Creek and was built in 1939.The driver of the truck will get a ticket, according to deputies. Alcohol was not a factor in the incident.
