Three years have passed since Brooke Wilberger was kidnapped near the campus of Oregon State University.

Even now, as FOX 12 took a look at crime on campus at OSU, the case is still fresh in their minds.

Several students said the Wilberger case has made them take extra precautions.

The parents of Katie Hanna, an OSU freshman, bought her a Taser gun to carry on campus. Hanna, and other students, said their parents' worries are due in part to Wilberger's disappearance.

"It just shows it could happen to anyone," Hanna said.

The most frequent crime at the school, however, is theft.

According to the most available crime reports for the year 2005, there were four forcible sex crimes, one robbery and 62 burglaries on campus.

Police said most of the thefts were bikes.

Officers suggested people use a cable lock and U-lock to keep their wheels from rolling away. Police said electronics are also stolen and the best thing students can do is use common sense to protect them.

Oregon State Police also patrols at Oregon State because the school has a nuclear reactor research facility, and that requires them to have a police presence.
