VANCOUVER, Wash. -- Court documents revealed new information about a Northwest bank robber called the Waddling Bandit.Robert Christie, 71, was taken into custody earlier this week on suspicion of robbing 20 banks over the last two years in Oregon and Washington.According to recently released documents, Christie is a millionaire property owner worth about $4 million. His family said it’s impossible to believe that he is the robber considering how much he’s worth.A U.S. magistrate said Christie’s assets make him a flight risk and ordered him to remain in jail until his hearing next month. The FBI gave Christie the "Waddling Bandit" nickname because of the way he walks.
