Driver Dies After Car Struck By Train

A man was killed Saturday night after his car was struck by a train near Vancouver, Wash.

Clark County 911 center received a call shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday from Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad that a westbound freight train had struck a vehicle near172nd Avenue and Southeast Evergreen Highway.

Vancouver firefighters said a white Subaru was found on the tracks in front of a stopped train.

The driver, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the driver has not been released.

Firefighters said there are several intersections in the area without train crossing arms.

The crash remains under investigation.
