PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Portland Beavers unveiled new logos, color schemes and uniforms Tuesday for their 2008 season. The new identity includes a complete color change; new primary, secondary and cap logos; and new home, road, alternate and batting practice uniforms and hats. The new colors include a Midnight Navy base and a complement of lighter blues and sand. It's similar to the colors worn by the team's parent club -- the San Diego Padres. The new primary logo features "Lucky," a Beaver swinging from the left side of the plate. It's encompassed by a round border that includes the phrasing "Portland Beavers" and "Established 1903.
Merritt Paulson, the president and general manager of the Beavers, said the new uniforms "embrace the history that Portlanders told us is so meaningful to them.""The look helps to underscore the fact that the Beavers have been Portland's team since 1903," Paulson said.
