BEAVERTON, Ore. -- Three men helped save the life of a stranger after her car crashed in Washington County on Saturday.Stephanie Baker, 20, the driver, was trapped in the car with her head stuck under the doorframe.John Glover said he was driving behind the car when he saw it lose control. He said the car hit a street sign, went into the ditch and rolled twice before coming to a stop upside down.A passenger in the car managed to get out of the car, but Baker was trapped.
Glover and another man who was driving by stopped to help. A man working at a nearby farm also brought in a forklift. The three men were able to lift the car up just enough to allow Baker to breathe until rescue crews arrived.Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to get Baker out of the car and a helicopter took her to Oregon Health & Science University. She was in critical condition Saturday night.Glover said he doesn’t consider himself a hero – he was just in the right place at the right time.“We knew we had to do something to open up her airway so she could breathe,” Glover said. “Everybody got together and tried to lift the car off the side that she was pinned.”
