HILLSBORO, Ore. -- Hillsboro police said they arrested two men and are searching for two more after they led police on a bizarre hunt.Alberto Antonio Estrada, 19, and Roberto Carlos Tena, 21, were arrested at about 10:15 p.m. Saturday but not before police said they perpetrated a string of crimes.Jason LeCorre, with the Hillsboro police, said the two men in custody and two others still on the lam left a trail of crime that police followed for more than an hour, before chance brought them an arrest. He said it all started at about 8:45 p.m. at the All Stars Lounge at Second Avenue and Washington Street in Hillsboro with a report of a bar fight. Witnesses said the fight involved four or five Hispanic men, one of which threw a bottle at the bouncer. The men then broke the glass on the front door and fled to a blue Mazda Navajo SUV.Under 10 minutes later, police got another report involving the SUV. This time, witnesses said four or five Hispanic men confronted a group of black men near the corner of Maple Street and 13th Avenue. The black men quickly started fleeing, saying later that they heard gunshots.LeCorre said just a few minutes later, at 8:54 p.m., police got yet another complaint about the same SUV. A woman called, saying people in a dark SUV were throwing rocks and beer bottles at her car.One minute later, they received a call of a robbery. When they responded a man said four or five men punched him and stole his backpack a block away at the corner of Maple Street and 13th Avenue.LeCorre said witnesses were able to get license plate numbers at all the crime scenes, all of which matched the Mazda SUV.He said they ran the plate number and followed it to a home on Northeast 17th Avenue, just north of Cornell Road. Nobody was home at the residence, so police waited and posted officers at the other crime scenes as well.LeCorre said that an off chance brought police to the SUV. He said an officer waiting at the home went to check out what he called a very unrelated robbery, only to find the SUV parked on the street and two men sitting inside. They were promptly arrested.Police said they questioned the two men for a short time before one of them asked or an attorney. The Washington County's Interagency Gang Enforcement Team is also investigating and said the spree was definitely gang related. All four men face a laundry list of charges including robbery, attempted robbery, intimidation (a hate crime), unlawful use of a weapon and attempted assault.
