A bus ride turned violent for a group of Tualatin High School students when two teenage girls began to fight Wednesday.

Carlos Garcia, a student on the bus, used his cell phone camera to record the beating.

“Everyone was terrified against their seats,” Garcia said. “Everyone jumped from that side of the bus to my side of the bus.”

The cell phone video shows a girl repeatedly pounding another girl on the head and pulling her hair.

Teen witnesses said the fight started because of some name-calling.

“She called her a fat cow and said she had buggy eyes and they just started going at it,” Garcia said.

The students on the bus said the girl doing the hitting in the cell phone video was actually acting out of self-defense. The girl wearing a black sweatshirt started the fight by pushing the other student's head against the bus window, teens said.

"At first, it was kind of amusing,” said Maira Cruz-Fenton, a Tualatin High School student. “Then we were like, 'Whoa, this is really serious.'"

The bus driver eventually realized what was going on, pulled over the bus and called police.

The students aboard the bus, however, said the conflict is far from over. Garcia said one of the girls threatened to kill the other.

The girls involved in the fight weren’t seriously hurt, but one of them suffered a bloody lip.

Police said there will be no charges in connection with the fight, but the teens will be referred to the school for disciplinary action.

Officers also said similar fights happen relatively frequently and that a school resource officer is familiar in dealing with this type of situation.
