PORTLAND, Ore. -- -- The Portland Community College campus at 705 N. Killingsworth St. went into lockdown at about 4:10 p.m. Monday when someone reported a shooting in progress, police said. After police arrived on campus and determined that no one was actively shooting and there was no victim, the lockdown was lifted at about 4:28 p.m.Over the next half hour, officers determined that a culprit had shot a gun at an unknown person or persons in a crowded area of the campus, police said. After getting information from witnesses, police followed the assailant’s last-known direction of travel and discovered a gun wrapped in clothing about a block and a half from the school. The gun was similar to the one described by witnesses at PCC, police said.Police never determined who the intended target was and have forwarded information about the crime to the Gang Team to continue the investigation.
