A stabbing suspect locked himself inside a bathroom at a mental health home Sunday morning.

Police responded to the Cascadia Behavioral Health home in north Portland at 2:18 a.m.

Robert Gil, 51, had been stabbed in the torso and was taken to a hospital with wounds that weren’t life-threatening, according to police.

Police said Todd Massie was responsible for the stabbing and he locked himself in a bathroom within the home.

Officers negotiated with Massie for more than six hours until SERT officers broke into the bathroom, deployed a Taser and took Massie into custody.

Gil is expected to survive.

Massie faces charges of assault, but is being held on a mental evaluation at a local hospital.
