TILLAMOOK, Ore. -- Highway 6 shut down Thursday morning because of several car crashes, transportation officials said.

The highway was closed from mileposts 22 to 34.5, but reopened by 12:15 p.m.

Icy conditions led to numerous crashes in the area leading up to the coast range summit.

Crews were sanding and plowing the road and they reopened the highway when the clean-up work was completed.
