VANCOUVER, Wash. -- A dog attacked a girl in front of her northeast Vancouver home Thursday. The girl was waiting for the school bus with her mother when the dog somehow got loose from its home across the street and ran toward her.Her mother said she tried to hide her daughter behind her, but the dog was too quick and managed to bite her daughter's face. The girl is going to be OK but had to get six stitches in her cheek, her mother said. The dog’s owners say the Labrador mix is normally nice and has never hurt anyone before. They said their dog is normally kept locked in the yard but somehow the gate was left unlatched. The owners said they are sorry for what happened and plan to euthanize their dog.
