The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of an Oregon City infant who died of a curable disease.

Deputies said 15-month-old Ava Worthington died March 2 in her parents' home.

Medical examiners said the girl died of a disease that could have been cured.

The girl’s parents, however, didn’t seek medical treatment because it's against their religion.

They are members of the Followers of Christ Church in Oregon City.

The church has faced scrutiny before for its practices.

Right now, the infant's parents are not facing any charges but they could still be arrested.

Faith healing is not protected from prosecution under Oregon law.
