Police: Hillsboro Man Kicked, Threw Pit Bull

HILLSBORO, Ore. -- Police arrested a Hillsboro man accused of kicking his dog and throwing it against a shed Tuesday.Officers said Brandon Nagy, 22, had blood smeared on his hands and shoes when they arrived at his house on Sunrise Lane.Nagy initially told officers he didn't own a dog, police said, but he later admitted to having one.Officers found the pit bull, Kahlua, in the garage of the home. It was taken to Dove Lewis Pet Hospital to be treated for cuts to its head and tail.View Images Of Dog, ManNeighbors said they're shocked because Nagy had always seemed like a normal guy."I've been out in the yard with his dogs and my dogs all the time and he seemed like a good, friendly dog person," neighbor Justin Vilendre said.Officers also said they found an AK-47 rifle at the home.Nagy, who has been convicted on drug charges in the past, was arrested and faces charges of animal abuse and felon in possession of a firearm.As for Kahula, she was treated and is recovering at a local shelter.Officials there said they're not sure if she'll ever fully recover.
