PORTLAND, Ore. -- Police have arrested a man wanted in connection with an unprovoked knife attack, Clackamas County deputies said Monday.Portland police took Josiah Demeire into custody at a home on Southeast Harold Street after an hour-long standoff Monday afternoon.Demeire is accused of attacking a Tualatin man with a knife last Thursday in a parking lot on Southeast 82nd Avenue. Clackamas County deputies said the stabbing was unprovoked and Demeire ran off before they arrived. The injured man had a piece of the knife's blade embedded in his skull, but he's recovering from the injury.
Meanwhile, deputies said they recently learned about Demeire's location, leading them to Monday's arrest.Thomas Rusnak, who lives in the neighborhood, said crime is typical in the area."I knew what kind of neighborhood this was when we bought the house," Rusnak said. "We've always lived in cities. It's not that shocking."Demeire, who has a criminal history in California and Idaho, was booked into the Clackamas County Jail on charges of assault and attempted murder.
