Police: Man Convinced 14-Year-Old To Meet For Sex

Police arrested a Tacoma man last week after, they said, he convinced a 14-year-old girl to meet him for sex.

Jared Schauble met the Woodland, Wash., girl on MySpace and carried on an inappropriate relationship with her through e-mails, phone calls and text messages, police said.

Officers said the girl skipped school Friday to meet Schauble at Horseshoe Lake Park in Woodland. But officers showed up and arrested him on the spot.

According to court documents, Schauble encouraged the girl to use a fake name so they could hide messages from her parents.

Police said Schauble asked the girl if she wanted to have sex and told her to send him naked pictures of herself. The girl's parents caught on, police said, and they called Schauble to tell him to back off. But the girl's father, Stewart, said he never did.

"He was graphic," said the girl's father. "But the one thing he kept doing was using the words 'I love you.' It was a manipulation tactic."

Detectives said they found topless photos of the girl on Schauble's computer and he admitted that he drove down from Tacoma to have sex with her.

"I can't say how I feel," the girl's father said. "I mean, literally, I just want to demolish the guy and I hope he suffers."

Schauble was booked into the Cowlitz County Jail on $50,000 bail.
