BEAVERTON, Ore. -- Police are looking for the person who stole a set of custom wheels and rims off a car in the driveway in front of a family's home Thursday.Dustie Borges usually drives the Saab for business, errands and the needs of her three kids. Her husband first discovered the wheels had been stolen Thursday morning."I'm not going anywhere today," Borges said. The thieves didn't take just any wheels. They stole a set of custom Momo 19-inch wheels and Italian rims worth about $3,000, theft victim Dean Borges said.
In their quiet neighborhood near Southridge High, the Borgeses didn't expect to become theft victims.Dustie Borges said Beaverton police told her there have been some car break-ins, but not the kind of thievery that visited their driveway last night."He said it definitely looked like a professional. They knew what they were doing, and they probably wore gloves," Dustie Borges said. The Borgeses said the police dusted the lug nuts for prints without much success. But, it could have been a more costly crime."The bricks that are underneath they stole from a neighbor's house. I guess that's good they didn't drop it on the concrete. There's no damage other than the nuisance of having to deal with all of it," Dustie Borges said. And Dean Borges said he hopes the thieves won't get much, if any, money for the stolen goods. The Borgeses said they've already ordered another set of the same special rims, and they're installing better lighting and alarm systems to protect their home and property.
