Rep. DeFazio To Endorse Obama

POSTED: 7:12 am PDT May 9, 2008

Congressman Peter DeFazio said he's endorsing Barack Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination.

DeFazio said he'd appear with Obama Friday at Eugene, Ore. and Albany, Ore.

DeFazio said Democrats are fortunate to have two strong candidates, but he says Obama is the strongest nominee to run against Republican John McCain.

The Democratic congressman said Obama has proven Obama is able to energize young people, independents and even some Republicans.

Reps. Earl Blumenauer and David Wu have also endorsed Obama. Gov. Ted Kulongoski and Rep. Darlene Hooley have endorsed Hillary Clinton.
