Police: Hit-And-Run Driver Hits Bicyclist

PORTLAND, Ore. -- A bicyclist was severely hurt when an accused hit-and-run driver crashed into him early Saturday morning in northeast Portland.Police said Jeremy Jordon, 30, entered a Safeway grocery store near the 6900 block of Northeast Fremont Street and tried to buy beer.Employees refused to sell the beer to Jordon and he then tried to steal the beer, police said.Investigators said Jordon ran to his car and sped out of the parking lot at a high rate of speed. As he joined Fremont Street and started to turn westbound, his car slammed into the bicyclist, police said.
Police said Jordon drove off, but they later arrested him on charges of assault, driving under the influence, reckless driving and felony hit-and-run.Bicyclist Eric Davidson, 36, was rushed to Legacy Emanuel Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
