Elderly Man Dies In Tractor Accident

An elderly man working in his yard with his wife of 64 years died when his tractor fell down an embankment Monday.

A high-angle rescue team responded to Northwest 334th Street near Cornelius on Monday, but the man died at the scene.

Sheriff's deputies said the man had a dirt-moving bucket attached to his tractor. While moving dirt, he began to dump a load into a ravine. The weight shifted and the tractor went down the embankment and brought the man down with it.

The 82-year-old man's identity hasn't been released.

Washington County sheriff's deputies are still investigating.
