PORTLAND, Ore. -- A report of a car prowl in the Jantzen Beach area ended in a man's death Tuesday morning.

Officers initially responded to a disturbance on Hayden Bay Drive just before 5 a.m. They found a man severely injured lying on the ground and began to administer CPR.

FOX 12 Report: Death Investigation Under Way

Crews rushed the 35-year-old man to Legacy Emanuel Hospital, where he died.

As of 8 a.m., there was no word on how the man suffered the injuries that led to his death. It's unknown what type of weapon was used in the incident.

Police said they were interviewing witnesses Tuesday morning.

There was a young woman who appeared to be emotionally distraught at the crime scene. There was also a man in the back of a police car, but there's no word on if he was arrested.
