MULINO, Ore. -- A man was found dead near Highway 211 that police said was probably killed by a hit-and-run driver.

A utility worker found the body in a ditch on the eastbound shoulder of the highway around 1 p.m. Friday, police said.

The medical examiner said that Justin White, 23, from Molalla was probably killed in the morning.

Police said their preliminary investigation showed that White was walking along the highway around 2 a.m. toward his mother's house when he was struck from behind by an unknown vehicle.

Evidence shows that the vehicle that hit him would have extensive damage to the front including the headlight assembly area, police said.

White was wearing dark clothes and police aren't sure if he was walking along the highway or on the shoulder.
