UPDATED: 12:58 pm PDT May 19, 2008

A 3-year-old girl died Saturday, one day after being rescued from a pond at Salmon Creek Regional Park.

A man spotted Antionaye Foster go under at Klineline Pond on Friday. He waded into the water and pulled her out. Another bystander performed CPR on Antionaye until paramedics arrived.

She was rushed to a local hospital and a LifeFlight helicopter then took her to Legacy Emanuel Hospital on Friday.

On Saturday, the Multnomah County Medical Examiner's office said Antionaye died.

Her grandparents said they've been raising the child at their southeast Portland home. They said the girl had been under the water for about two minutes, but that it took about 45 minutes to restore some breathing.

"It's a terrible loss," said Yvonne Crockett, Antionaye's grandmother. "… We were there watching her. It happened so fast."

A fund has been set up for the funeral of Antione Foster. The account is under the name Yvonne Crockett and deposits can be made at any Bank of America. The account number is: #00454194246.

The family is also asking for any other witnesses who saw what happened to come forward. The Clark County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
