TIGARD, Ore. -- A woman who said bird attacked her on two occasions issued a warning to shoppers at a Target store Monday.Arletta McGull said a bird swooped in on her Saturday morning when she was near the Target store on Hall Boulevard in Tigard. When she returned to the store Monday morning, a bird was more aggressive.McGull said a bird nose-dived and grabbed onto her head, ripping a chunk of hair out of her head."I think it was on my head for 30 seconds," McGull said. "I'm twirling around, trying to hit this bird with my umbrella. He was latching on pretty good for about 30 seconds."
McGull received a tetanus shot Monday because of the attack. The Audobon Society said the bird to blame is the starling, which can nest in cavities such as gutters. The organization said the bird is nesting and protecting its nest.Aggressive behavior is common during nesting time, according to experts, and heat can make the birds jump out of their nest area.Managers at the Target store said they haven't taken any reports of the bird attacks.
