MAX Assault Suspect: 'It Was Just A Harmless Scuffle'

UPDATED: 7:21 am PDT May 29, 2008

A man accused of assault on a MAX train said Wednesday he hopes the alleged victim will "be a man about it."

Police said Anthony Carillo began to harass another man at a MAX stop in Hillsboro and then followed him onto the train.

The victim told police that Carillo started punching him when he stood up to call for help and the fight lasted several minutes, officers said.

Carillo said the man pulled a gun on him during the fight, but police said he had a license to carry a concealed weapon.

Carillo believes the charges are too harsh and the incident was "just a harmless scuffle; two guys trading some licks."

"I'm hoping the guy will come to his senses and realize it's just a fight and that's that," Carillo said. "Be a man about it."

Officers arrested Carillo on several charges, including assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.

The alleged victim did not suffer any serious injuries. He did not want to speak with media Wednesday.
