Police were searching Thursday for a man who robbed a grocery store in Northeast Portland.

A man walked into the Fred Meyer near Northeast 66th and Glisan streets around 7 a.m. and told store workers he had a weapon, police said.

The cashier told officers they never actually saw a weapon but still handed over about $300, police said.

Police hadn't yet released a description of the robber, who fled the store on foot as of 5 p.m. Thursday.

Anyone with information about the robbery should call Portland police.
