SALEM, Ore. -- A judge sentenced a Salem couple in connection with a neglect investigation involving four children and two dozen dogs.

Police arrested Sarah and Kevin Deal in November after serving a search warrant at their home as part of a child pornography investigation.

Once inside, officers said they discovered the family and 24 poodles living in squalor.

Detectives also said there were eight dead puppies in a freezer.

Monday, a judge sentenced Sarah Deal to five years probation.

Kevin Deal received two days in jail with credit for time served.

He still could face additional sentencing on criminal mistreatment charges once the child pornography case comes to a conclusion.
