Shot Fired At Gresham Golf Club Bar

POSTED: 10:47 am PDT June 24, 2008
UPDATED: 5:33 pm PDT June 24, 2008

A fight at a Gresham Golf Course bar ended with a man's arrest early Tuesday morning, police said.

Officers said Jacob Helfer, 34, and Logan Scott, 26, had been fighting at Another Round, a lounge at the Gresham Golf Course on Division Street.

Helfer used a gun to hit Scott in the face, according to police. As the gun struck Scott, the weapon went off; however, the bullet didn't hit anyone.

When police first arrived at the scene, Scott told them he had been shot in the face and then gave a description of Helfer, according to police.

A K-9 search led officers to Helfer at a nearby 7-Eleven store, where he was taken into custody 20 minutes after the initial report of the fight.

Police arrested Helfer on charges of assault and unlawful use of a weapon and booked him into the Multnomah County Detention Center.

Scott was treated for his injuries and released.
