Police Have Lead In Colton Hit-And-Run Case

UPDATED: 1:17 pm PDT June 26, 2008

Evidence at the scene of a deadly hit-and-run near Colton has generated a lead on the vehicle involved, state police said Thursday.

A utility worker found the body of 23-year-old Justin White, of Molalla, on the side of Highway 211 in May.

Damaged headlight fragments and assembly parts helped forensic examiners identity the vehicle involved as a 1992-1996 Ford F-series pickup or Bronco.

The color of the vehicle is unknown, but investigators believe it has obvious front damage in the front headlight area, where it struck White.

White's body was found on the afternoon of May 16. Police said he had been hit from behind several hours earlier while walking toward his mother's home in Colton.

State police released photos of vehicles similar to the one believed to be involved in the crash. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call 800-452-7888.
