Car Window Shattered In I-5 Road Rage Incident

UPDATED: 1:29 pm PDT July 5, 2008

A woman driving on Interstate 5 suffered facial injuries Wednesday when a beer bottle was tossed through her car window.

Renee Wooldridge, while trying to get her pregnant daughter to a doctor's appointment, said she had pulled into a gas station near downtown Vancouver to turn around when a car blocked her from doing so. She said she went around him and got back onto the freeway.

Later, near SR-14, she said she heard honking behind her. A car then sped past her and someone threw a bottle at her window.

"I thought it was a gunshot or something because there was glass all over," Wooldridge said. "I felt my face. There was blood all over it."

As Wooldridge pulled over, she said she saw a man leaning out of a window, yelling at her.

"I thought, 'What did I do to deserve this? What did I really do?'" she said. "All I did was went around this guy. I just couldn't believe that someone could do such a thing."

Wooldridge's pregnant daughter, two grandchildren, her son and another woman were in the car with her. None of them were injured seriously.

Wooldridge and her family hope someone witnessed what happened and will come forward to help find the car and the man who threw the beer bottle.

She said the car was possibly a dark blue Acura or Honda with four doors and a personalized Washington license plate.

State patrol is asking anyone who witnessed what happened to call them. The incident happened Wednesday at 3:40 p.m.
