Thieves Steal Mail In Lincoln City

LINCOLN CITY, Ore. -- Police discovered early Monday that more than 100 mail boxes had been burglarized along the west side of Lincoln City.Lincoln City police officers arrived at about 6:30 a.m. to Northwest Harbor Avenue to find numerous mailboxes open with mail scattered across the ground.As officers patrolled the area, they found large amounts of personal mail and other contents from more than 110 mailboxes had been removed and some appeared to have been intentionally mutilated, police said.Officers picked up the mail that had been left on the ground and are working to contact the victims, police said.Police said they didn't know if all the mail boxes had mail inside at the time of the incident, but warned those affected that the thefts are likely related to identity theft, check or credit card fraud.Anyone who was affected by the mail thefts should check their credit reports often and report any suspicious activity, police said.The areas affected by mail thefts:
