AURORA, Ore. -- A man arrested and accused of having sex with a 13-year-old said Monday that the alleged victim showed him an ID claiming she was 19 years old.

Aurora police arrested Scott Knight at his aunt's home Sunday morning.

Knight said he met his alleged victim through an online dating service. They talked on the phone and later met near Airport Road in Aurora.

Knight, 28, said she looked young, but he asked for her ID.

"She showed me ID, she said she was 19," he said. "It's a real ID, just like a normal Oregon ID with her picture and everything. (It) said she was born in '88."

Police said Knight was naïve to think she was telling the truth about her age. Officials said Knight's victim is 13 years old and that an adult reported the relationship six months ago.

Officers said the teen showed investigators where they met and said the two had sex in a parked car.

On Sunday, police took Knight's computer as evidence, but he claims he's innocent and has nothing to hide.

"I told them they could go through it and everything," he said. "I gave them all the passwords, everything."

Knight is being held in the Marion County Jail without bail. He'll appear in court Tuesday.

The Marion County District Attorney's Office is charging Knight with sodomy and rape. It has dropped four other charges since Sunday.
