Sheriff's Office Announces Project Lifesaver

The Washington County Sheriff's Office is implementing Project Lifesaver, a program allowing law enforcement personnel to track people prone to wandering off because of Alzehimer's, autism and other disorders.

The program uses a plastic bracelet that recipients can wear on their wrist or ankle. The bracelet contains a waterproof radio transmitter, which is assigned a radio frequency unique to them and their geographical area.

If you're interested in becoming a volunteer for the program or if you would like to help provide a bracelet to those who can't afford one, call 503-846-6048 or e-mail Marcia_langer@co.washington.or.us.
