Accused Seaside Rapist Appears In Court

SEASIDE, Ore. -- A man accused of kidnapping and raping a 16-year-old Seaside girl faced a judge Monday afternoon.Police arrested Alden Buchholz on July 3 shortly after the girl told officers she escaped and reported the attack.Buchholz was arraigned on several charges including kidnapping, sodomy, unlawful sexual penetration and rape.Buchholz is accused of dragging the girl from a local arcade while she waited for a friend.
The victim claimed he took her to a hotel, where he drugged her.She said she later woke up in a car beaten and raped.She claimed Buccholz was passed out beside her and that is how she was able to escape and report the attack to police.Seaside police found and arrested Buchholz shortly after.According to court documents, he forced himself on the 16-year-old, and she was incapable of consent by reason of physical helplessness.Bail for Buchholz remains at $1 million. He will be in court again Aug. 1.
