PORTLAND, Ore. -- A man who captured a suspected road rage incident on camera said Tuesday the incident had more to do with alcohol than with a bicyclist-motorist rivalry on Portland's roads.James Millican is accused of running over a man's bicycle and then hitting him with his car.Raw Video:
Bicyclist Clings To Speeding Car's HoodPortland police said bicyclist Jason Rehnberg was tossed onto the hood of Millican's car. He clung to the windshield wipers of the speeding car as the car sped down 58th Avenue in southeast Portland, officers said.Rick Adams said he heard brakes locking up and angry voices, leading him to grab his camera and run outside."All I could tell was there was shouting and at that point I had no idea who was shouting," Adams said. "I couldn't see that there was a bicycle involved because it was behind the car. There was just people yelling and then a car screaming down the hill."Adams took video of Rehnberg holding onto the windshield wipers. Rehnberg was able to get off the car when it slowed down.Millican was taken into custody on several charges, including driving under the influence.Rehnberg, meanwhile, told The Oregonian newspaper that he feels fortunate the driver slowed down enough for him to jump off the car without getting hurt.It was the second high-profile clash between a driver and bicyclist in as many weeks. Earlier this month, police said a man in his car was attacked by a bicyclist accused of being drunk.
