The North Clackamas School District is offering a $1,000 reward after thieves stole copper wiring from several parking lot light fixtures.

Deputies said the copper wire was stolen from fixtures at Putnam High School, Clackamas High School and Sunrise Middle School.

The school district will now need to replace the wiring. The cost will range from $1,100 to $24,000 for each school. Securing each light pole to prevent future theft will also cost $110.

Joe Krumm, the district's director of community and government relations, hopes the public can provide tips in the investigation.

"Money used to repair these light fixtures would normally be available for the general fund to support the education of students," Krumm said.

It's unknown when the wire was stolen. Anyone with information is asked to call the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office tip line at 503-723-4949.
