A family had its home broken into and many expensive things stolen, including a car, while they were at church July 20, police said.

The home in the 100 block of Northeast Meikle was burglarized between 7:50 and 9:10 a.m. during the short period when the family left to walk to church, police said.

When family members returned home, they found that thieves had stolen cell phones, a laptop, an iPod, video equipment, jewelry and credit cards, police said.

Within hours, police said they'd received information from the Fred Meyer store at 14700 Southeast Division St. where three people had tried to use the stolen credit cards to buy $700 worth of clothes.

When employees asked to see identification they took off, police said.

Images of the three were caught on surveillance cameras at the store while they shopped, police said. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest in this case.

The three thieves were two men and a woman, police said.

The first man was described as white, in his 20s, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 170 pounds with a goatee. His hair is short or possibly shaved and he was wearing a white baseball cap when he was photographed. He was also wearing a white short-sleeve T-shirt with "Hurley" on it and plaid shorts. The man had tattoos on his arms and back of his neck, police said.

The second man was described as white, in his 20s with short dark hair and was wearing a short-sleeve striped polo shirt.

The woman was described as white, in her 20s, with long straight brown hair and was wearing a dark-colored short-sleeve top and dark-colored pants, police said.

The stolen SUV, a blue 2005 Toyota Highlander was found abandoned Friday in the 5400 block of Northeast Hoyt Street, police said.
