Fire Damages Gresham Apartments

GRESHAM, Ore. -- A Gresham apartment fire displaced several people Thursday evening.The blaze broke out at 6 p.m. on Southwest Eastman Parkway. Fire officials said the flames started on the second floor and then spread to the third story.Crews were forced to evacuate everyone from the 18-unit complex when they arrived.Jennifer Gutierrez said she feared for her mother-in-law, who lives in the same complex. "That was my first fear, did she get out?" Gutierrez said.
There were no significant injuries and medics treated one person for a minor injury at the scene.The American Red Cross helped people who were forced out of six apartment units.Fire officials said they're still trying to figure out what caused the fire.
