Property Dispute Shooting Heard On 911 Call

A 911 recording released Thursday caught a man being shot in the arm during a property dispute in Vancouver.

Deputies said Mary Billy, 75, shot her neighbor after he dug a hole for a fence post near a disputed property line.

Billy and Alexey Guzeyev had a longstanding feud that had brought deputies to their homes twice in the past year.

Deputies said Billy grabbed a gun, leading Guzeyev to 911 and started recording Billy with a video camera.

Billy first fired a warning shot, authorities said. She's then accused of shooting Guzeyev in the arm.

The emergency dispatcher heard the gunshot while Guzeyev spoke to her through a Russian translator.

"She shot at me and she hit my arm," Guzeyev said.

Deputies responded to the home and detained Billy.

Earlier this week, Clark County prosecutors agreed to allow for a delay in charges being filed against Billy.

Senior Deputy Prosecutor John Fairgrieve said the defense council came forward and said it wanted time to investigate and provide more evidence.

Billy is expected back in court September.
