A woman from Salem died and two others were injured when the car they were in crashed into a tree and flipped over Thursday, Oregon State Police said.

Martin Ramirez-Torres, 24, from Salem, was driving a 1997 Honda Accord westbound on Highway 22E four miles east of Stayton at about 6 p.m., Lieutenant Gregg Hastings said.

The car came off of a four-lane highway onto a two-lane section, crossed the lane of oncoming traffic, left the highway, struck a tree and flipped over, Hastings said.

A passenger in the back seat, Audriana Marie Roldan, 18, from Salem, wasn't wearing her seat belt and died at the scene, police said.

Ramirez-Torres and the passenger in the front seat, Flora Rebecca Hernandez, 19, from Salem, were both wearing their seat belts and survived the crash, he said.

Hernandez suffered minor injuries and was taken to Santiam Hospital, and Ramirez-Torres suffered serious injuries and was taken by LifeFlight to Good Samaritan Hospital, Hastings said.

Police closed Highway 22E in both directions with a detour through the area for about three hours, he said.

OSP was continuing to investigate the crash using a crash reconstructionist, Hastings said.
