PORTLAND, Ore. -- A woman pleaded guilty Wednesday to theft and identity theft after several people accused her of posing as a landlord to take their money in October 2007.Lynn Sisto appeared in court to change her plea to guilty and gave a tearful apology, but she didn't turn around to face her victims."Had I known this was going to happen for them, I never would have done this. Never! And I'm sorry. I just wanted to say I'm sorry,” Sisto said.Victims said Sisto promised to rent them homes that she didn't really own. Some victims contacted her after seeing her advertisement on Craigslist. One woman said Sisto told her that she had just bought several homes in Northeast Portland and wanted to rent them out.But after the woman paid rent for one of the homes, she was left without a place to live.In October, she and a sister-in-law, who also tried to rent a home from Sisto, set up their own sting operation. Police arrested Sisto that day.One of the victims said Wednesday that she felt some justice with the verdict."She was just upset because she got caught. There was no remorse in her apology to us,” Donna Sylvester said. "I told them that's what I was working for, for some justice to see her taken away. And that's going to happen. That makes me feel good.”Sisto will return to court Friday for sentencing. The judge is expected to give her three years and three months in prison with five years probation. As part of that probation, Sisto is expected to pay back her victims. The judge also mentioned that Sisto should get mental health counseling and medication.
