SALEM, Ore. -- Three people were shot in northeast Salem on Sunday and one later died at a hospital, police said.

Salem police officers were called to 5th and Locust streets at around 3:30 a.m. after a report of shots fired.

Shortly after, a car pulled up at Salem Hospital with three gunshot victims inside, officers said.

One of the shooting victims, identified as 21-year-old Rafael Garcia, died at the hospital, another was taken to a Portland hospital by a Life Flight helicopter and a third was treated and released.

There's no word on who is responsible for the shooting.

Detectives are treating Garcia's death as a homicide. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 541-588-6050, ext. 7152.
