Worker Attacked At Check Cashing Store

POSTED: 6:16 pm PDT August 18, 2008
UPDATED: 7:00 am PDT August 19, 2008

A man robbed a Check Into Cash at gunpoint and assaulted the clerk Monday, deputies said.

The robber entered the Check Into Cash at 1307 NE 78th Street #B14 in Hazel Dell at about 2:45 p.m. Monday and said, "Give me all your money" to the clerk, deputies said.

The clerk told investigators that she thought the man was joking until he pulled out a black semiautomatic handgun and pointed it at her face, deputies said.

After the cashier had filled a grocery bag with the money from the register, the robber grabbed her and demanded the videotape, deputies said.

The cashier told him there was no tape in the store and when the gunman found the store's VCR he slammed her head into a nearby sink for lying to him, deputies said.

The man took the tape and money and fled the store, deputies said.

Deputies said they searched the area using K-9 units but didn't find the robber.

The gunman was described as black, about 20 to 30 years old, 6 feet tall with a medium build and had a mustache and small beard on his jaw line. During the robbery he was wearing a black zippered hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
