Police Say Men Attacked Five People

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Portland police are asking for help finding four men accused of taking part in a violent crime spree last Tuesday.Two of the men attacked a clerk at an Arco gas station in the early morning of Aug. 12, police said. They threw him to the ground, hit him with a baseball bat and stole cigarettes, according to police. Surveillance cameras caught the incident on tape.Slideshow: Four Men Wanted In Portland Crime SpreePrior to the alleged attack, the men took part in four other violent incidents in north Portland and northeast Portland:
3:54 a.m. at Northeast 33rd Avenue and Columbia Boulevard: Police say the men chased after a motorist and threw an object through the driver-side window, shattering it. The victim, covered in glass, suffered numerous cuts on his arms and legs, officers said. 4 a.m. in the 7400 block of North Interstate Avenue: Four people inside a red pickup showed up at a Shell gas station and attacked a homeless man, officers said. They're accused of punching the man, stomping on him and hitting him in the head with a full can of beer. Police said the attackers took the man's backpack and drove away. 4:10 a.m. in the 7200 block of North Olin Avenue: A man delivering newspapers was approached by one of the men and hit four times with a closed fist, police said. The attacker then got back in the red pickup truck and drove away. 4:15 a.m. in the 6100 block of North Lombard Street: Officers were called to a report of a pedestrian beaten and robbed. Police said the victim was walking across North Lombard Street when the pickup stopped in the middle of the street. The men got out of the truck and then beat the man to the ground, police said. Officers said the attackers took the man's cell phone and then left in the truck. A little more than one hour later, they showed up at the Arco gas station and attacked the clerk, officers said.A co-worker said the man is OK now and back to his graveyard shift at the Arco.A clerk at the Shell station told police one of the suspects said he had just gotten out of prison in Texas and had driven 23 hours straight to get to Oregon.The vehicle involved in the crime spree is a red Chevrolet/GMC full-size extended cab pickup truck with silver running boards and a black bug guard. It may have Texas license plates.Police have released descriptions of the four suspects. One of the men is Hispanic, 20-25 years old, 6 feet to 6 feet 4 inches tall and 230 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes and has numerous tattoos on his neck, chest, back and arms. He wore a white tank top and dark pants at the time of the crimes.Another one of the attackers is black, 20 to 25 years old, 6 feet tall and 160 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes, a short scruffy beard and wore a white tank top.Two other men involved in the crime spree were white and 20-25 years old. One man was 6 feet tall, 150 pounds with brown hair, a slight moustache and a mole on his right cheek near his nose. He wore a gray T-shirt. The other man is 5 feet 9 inches tall, 150 pounds and wore a black T-shirt and jeans.A $1,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
