PORTLAND, Ore. -- A woman was trying to track down the person who stole her debit card while she was at an ATM and used the stolen card at several stores.Security cameras at one store caught the alleged thief in action. The victim said she was using the drive-up ATM at the Washington Mutual bank in Aloha to check her account balance when a thief showed up with a gun.The woman panicked and canceled her transaction, but the thief made off with the debit card.
Customers at the bank were surprised to hear what happened but said they're always cautious around an ATM."It's very disconcerting; there's a lot of activity here so you would think there would not be something like that happen," bank customer Bethany Jackson said.Security video from a gas station, one of three places the accused robber used the stolen debit card, shows the alleged thief buying several packs of cigarettes. The Washington County Sheriff's Office hopes someone will recognize the person in the video.Anyone who does should call the sheriff's office.
