Police are searching for a man who attacked a woman from behind, stabbing her Tuesday night.

The woman was attacked by the unknown man while walking alone in the area of 32nd Avenue and Baltimore Street, police said.

The man attacked her from behind and, after a struggle, she was able to escape but she suffered several stab wounds to her head and body, police said.

The man ran off in an unknown direction.

Neighbors said police patrol the area regularly but that the attack scares them.

"It's kind of scary because I've never had anything like that happen around here before. My children are a little concerned. My daughter's afraid to go outside," neighbor Lisa Weaver said.

The attacker was described as white, about 6 feet tall, 170 to 180 pounds, and was wearing a black baseball hat with a black hooded sweatshirt pulled over the baseball hat at the time of the crime.

The victim said the man has distinct features such as bushy eyebrows and severe acne and/or pockmarks.

Anyone with information about this attack should call the Longview Police Department at 360-442-5800 or 360-442-5929 or Crimestoppers at 360-577-1206.
