The Multnomah County medical examiner released the name Friday of a woman killed in a downtown apartment fire.

Susan Schwartzkopf, 57, died when fire broke out on a fourth-floor unit of the Bronaugh Apartments at 1434 SW Morrison St.

Fire officials said another tenant rescued Schwartzkopf's roommate from the fire.

Portland Fire & Rescue officials said the flames started when a mattress caught fire, but there's no word on what caused the mattress to ignite.

The Bronaugh Apartments are a HUD facility for elderly and disabled people.
