Police arrested a man on driving under the influence charges Monday after he rear-ended a Portland police patrol car, officers said.

Police said Masuhuri Mfundishi crashed into a car driven by Officer Cory Stenzel at 3:30 a.m.

Stenzel, 33, was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Southeast 82nd Avenue and Powell Boulevard when Mfundishi's 1998 Buick Century crashed into the car, police said.

Stenzel, a three-year veteran of the Portland Police Bureau, was taken to Portland Adventist Hospital to be treated for neck and back injuries. He was released Monday morning.

Mfundishi wasn't injured. Police arrested him on charges of driving under the influence and reckless driving.

He was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center.
