LONGVIEW, Wash. -- A Colorado man faced charges in Cowlitz County on Monday for allegedly preying on a 12-year-old girl over the Internet.

Deputies issued an extradition warrant for Benjamin Stribling after a local mother reported that Stribling was having an inappropriate relationship with her daughter online.

The alleged victim is a seventh grader in the Longview-Kelso area.

When the girl's mother realized that an older out-of-state man was trying to get her daughter to send him naked pictures of herself online, she called police.

Stribling had his first court appearance Monday in Cowlitz County via closed circuit TV where he asked for an attorney to be appointed to represent him.

The judge said he is facing charges of sexual exploitation and communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.

Stribling is a registered sex offender in Colorado, but a few months ago he contacted a girl in Cowlitz County and claimed he was much younger than he is.

The girl's mother said she checked out her daughter's chat history on the social networking Web site Teenspot where she found chats showing Stribling pressuring her daughter to send naked pictures to him.

The mother said when she found the chat she immediately called the sheriff's office.

Stribling is now being held in the jail in Longview on $200,000 bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 15.
